A Single Series Treasury: Volume 1
Midcentury Comics #1534: Early Golden Age Newspaper Strips Come to the Comics! Abby N' Slats, Ella Cinders, Joe Jinks and more! (A Gwandanaland Publication)
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
The early Golden Age was dominated by newspaper strip reprints. The comic book was a new and uncertain industry, so publishers didn't have new stories written and drawn, they took the newspaper comics and turned them into books. Readers loved a collection of strips they previously only got to enjoy in small daily doses and publishers made good money bringing them to the audience. SINGLE SERIES (30 issues, 1938-1942). Their exact production schedule is uncertain because the individual issues did not have monthly dates printed, but the annual production for 1939 and 1940 was about a dozen issues each, equaling a monthly output. These issue are hard to find and very expensive; we're hunting them down as fast as we can. This volume contains:
#25 – ABBY 'N SLATS
#28 – ELLA CINDERS & ABBY AN' SLATS
#16 – ILLUSTRATED GAGS
#12 – JOE JINKS
