Adventures Into Terror And Weird Worlds (PB)
Midcentury Comics #1238-PB: Chilling Pre-Code Classic Horror and Suspense -- Complete Stories From Ten Issues! (1953-54) A Gwandanaland Publication
Usually printed in 3 - 5 business days
In the horror and SF genres of comics the traditional distinctions of Golden Age, Atomic Age, Silver Age, etc., have little meaning. There is one event which defined the horror/SF comics in the mid 20th Century – the Comics Code Authority. The attempt to “save” the youth of the country from brain damage via comic books brought a censorship never before seen in American publishing. So when you see the designation “pre-Code” it means something – and this collection of five issues of ADVENTURES INTO TERROR (#27-31) and five issues of ADVENTURES INTO WEIRD WORLDS (#26-30) contain top PRE-CODE stories and artwork. Most of the series is not available in the public domain, but our research has uncovered that these five issues published by Atlas (a few years later to become Marvel) never had their copyrights renewed.
So, Gwandanaland / Midcentury Comics is offering this collection, books not reprinted in almost 70 years! You might recognize some of the people who illustrated these great stories – Gene Colan, Vince Colletta, Sol Brodsky, Myron Fass, Dick Ayers, Al Hartley, Joe Sinnott – and the list goes on! The originals would cost you hundreds, maybe thousands – and that's without the plastic case! But we're Gwandanaland – so you can save a bit!
