His adventures began as a series of short cartoons from the Walter Lantz Studios after the retirement of Oswald Rabbit from the screen (rumors of salary disputes and an affair with Betty Boop were rampant at the time). Although his prime cartoon days ended in 1949, ANDY has appeared off and on over the decades.
