For THE FLYING DUTCHMAN, war was not an ideological struggle, or even a quest for survival, but was instead an act of vengeance. After his parents were killed, THE FLYING DUTCHMAN (whose name was unknown, though his first name may have been Jan), worked as a freelance flyer aiding the Allies. His signature act was dropping white roses from his plane, equal to the number of Nazi planes he shot down. This intense drama appeared in Air Fighters Comics / Airboy Comics beginning in the second issue and almost continuously through #32, drawn by such Golden Age greats at Bob Fujitani and Tony Depreta.
