Matthew Volume One

The first four chapters of Matthew emphasize the position of Christ more than the exercise of His power. He is the King, the true Son of David, the annointed Son of God. He called disciples and has set the stage for their instruction and preparation for the proclamation of the gospel. Since Matthew defines Christ as King, there is the continuing emphasis upon the kingdom of heaven.
