Rappaccini's Daughter

University student Giovanni Guasconti arrives in Padua from elsewhere in Italy and falls in love with the enigmatic Beatrice, the daughter of the hated and controversial Dr. Rappaccini. He hears rumors about the father and daughter, but finds it hard to believe that she is "poisonous" or "more than human". Despite all the dangers, he ventures into Dr. Rappaccini's supposed "Garden of Eden", where the doctor experiments with poisonous plants and has created some new species. In the end, the two lovers will have to decide whether to continue with their lives as they are, or seek a way out of this situation...
