Synergy City

This paper outlines the design of a futuristic city, but with technology that’s available now. It focuses on design and layout rather than scientific advancement. Gone are the combustion engine vehicles, crisscrossing avenues, and ramble of buildings. Gone are the inefficiencies of traffic lights, parking, and congesting crowds. Everyone has a view over the park. Everyone has sunlight. The elderly are a few steps away from all the stores and theatres and medical facilities they will ever need, the youngsters have instant access to all the entertainment they could ever get their impulsive little hands on. Suburbia, far from being an architectural feast for the eyes, blends into the landscape. Using few natural resources it’s almost as self sufficient in food as it is in electricity. Speed and efficiency are juxtaposed against a slow paced serenity at ground level.
