PROGRESSION - Darkness into Light is a poetic journal about the loss of the self, in large due to sexual abuse as a child, and young adult, with other contributing factors unto self-discovery. These entries, which were written from November 2005 until September 2007 are about a little girl who endured too much darkness, and found God, omniscient, always, as she struggled to hold onto the light, come what may, until she owned who she is. It is the journey of a girl smothered in darkness as a victim unto the finding of her power within the armour of God. Somehow, whilst immense pain rattled the heart and mind of 'Candice', who had become a single mum raising her daughter from a sense of loss and uncertainty, and memories which surfaced, her entries flowed progressively over the months. Candice had not realised until its completion and then reading her journal two years later, that her diary was themed, with a range of interconnections between the pages of her trauma, her grief, and her healing. Can weaved a tapestry of pain into a priceless artwork of poetry that was and is the sustenance to her memory, to the little girl, and the woman, Noora, who she has become.
