Finding, in a Generation that Seeks the path to Hope. What is the secret of success in a large company if not its ability, first and foremost, to locate the common ‘meeting point’ of all the different and many wishes? The American financial situation took off because of America’s ability to set itself a shared national vision. Even the very name – United States of America – indicates the essence of joint effort: states that joined a covenant, and the fall of the stock exchange long ago was due only to the absence of social trust. Economy in fact relies on social trust, not on petroleum, diamonds or donuts. What achievements, though, can be pointed to among small, isolated communities in far flung icy or desert countries? Civilization is the product of joint community effort over a period of generations. When the communities are small and isolated, by comparison, the amount of effort that can be shared is equally small, and it would be difficult to expect high quality outcomes.
