NINO CHANINO, The Little Cat. An Original Story for Young Readers. This story takes place in Brazil where gated subdivisions with doorman positioned in security booths at the entrances are very common. These are not necessarily exclusive communities, but places where many average middle class families live. Stray dogs and cats are sadly also very common. Economic factors often make it difficult to control their populations and, lucky for them, there are very few city pounds and the warm tropical climate makes it easy for them to survive outside. Fortunately there are good-hearted people like our narrator who show them kindness and try to make their lives better.
