MADRID DRAWINGS

I did these drawings and collages in the Summer and Fall of 1989 while travelling in Europe. They are seminal to much of the work that was to come; they are non figurative and non representational and have no preferred axis thus they can be viesed from any position. Lines, form, color and letters are used compositonally, aesthetically, rather than for any supposed meaning. Later, collages are composed from several sources, often cut and rearanged, to form one scale-less whole. They are a prelude to the pencil and nails wall drawings.
