Krisitian Wollf grew up inan Austria where racism was endemic. His reckless nature led him to Join the SS military wing. After being wounded in Leningrad, he was assigned to Auschwitz concentration camp. His stay was controversial in that he performed certain acts of compassion. Nevertheless, he was forced to confront his role within the largest genocide in modern history.
We follow Kristian's story through a collection of confessions. Reflecting his Catholic faith, his father Josef, mother Maria and others relate the story of this fallen angel. Wew hear of his post war trial when he is put in front of the inmates and throughout the process, one is left with the impression that the full truth will never be known.
Truth in Ash is part of a trilogy that starts with Whispering Birches and concludes with Blood Orange Blossom.
