Kurmanji (Northern Kurdish) is the most widely spoken variety of the Kurdish language, used by 15–20 million people across Turkey, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Armenia. It is an Indo-European language, written primarily in the Latin alphabet (Hawar alphabet), and serves as a major medium for culture, media, and literature in the Kurdish diaspora.
