Twinges at Twilight

These very varied poems by Pauline Radley have, all of them, an underlying element of thought. This core of thought is treated with a careful reverence and sensitivity. Sometimes, this sensitivity in the face of perception almost seems to restrain any bravura of form or language. Yet, the resulting poem is never without point or effect. At other times, Pauline is mildly playful with her words, without any sense of exhibition or panache, yet her sense of regard for some perceived aspect of consciousness or of the external world is never subverted.
