Trade Paperback - 83 pages ARTIST STATEMENT MY OIL PAINTINGS—primarily still life—are an exploration of composition and color. They occupy the intersection of contemporary and traditional realism. I choose ordinary objects that absorb and reflect light and cast interesting shadow patterns. I enjoy revealing the striking features in common everyday objects by painting them loosely and expressively. Stylistically, I strive for unique compositions, irregular formats, harmonious color combinations, repetitive shapes, and extreme cropping to create dynamic and expressive paintings that are slightly “edgy” and visually interesting. When people see my work, I would like them to enjoy each piece for its rich color harmony and pleasing visual appeal.
