Glencairnie

Glencairnie House in the beautiful, but wild countryside of the Scottish Borderland is home to Colonel Alfred McDonald and his wife Mary. With three sons and daughter Sophie they live an idyllic lifestyle of the period. Their Home Farm on the estate is run by the abhorrent Yorkshireman, Joe Crossley who rules his farm workers with a rod of iron. The widowed shepherd Will and his daughter Meg live in the remote hill cottage of Westhope. Meg's work in such hostile conditions, combined with the treatment she and her father receive from Crossley makes for a tough existence.
