"Crisis, Opportunism and Present Futures" is a publication of three years of research initiatives (2007-2009) conducted by Phu Hoang Office. The book documents our work leading up to- and includes- our exhibition for the 2009 Young Architects Forum award. These research initiatives ask the questions: how do we imagine a different future while also responding to present conditions? How do we design for change without relying on the old architectural tropes of utopia, which leapfrog the present in search of an elusive state of perfection?
