“You Thought It Was All Over” by PT Rose is a poetic, reflective stage play set in the afterlife, unfolding in a humble Ashington kitchen bathed in golden light. The play explores family, legacy, class, and motherhood through the imagined reunion of Cissie Charlton — matriarch of the famous Charlton football family — and her sons Jack and Bobby Charlton, alongside Sir Alf Ramsey, the manager who led England to victory in the 1966 World Cup.

Cast
Cissie Charlton – Mother. Fiercely loving, humble, intuitive, with a quiet authority. Dressed in a simple apron over a faded floral dress, evoking the hardy spirit of Ashington miners' wives. Her voice carries the Geordie lilt of Northumberland, warm yet unyielding.
Sir Alf Ramsey – England manager. Formal, analytical, proud of discipline and order. Overcoat and a hat, waistcoat underneath and tie, pipe in hand, with a calm, authoritative demeanor masking quiet introspection.
Sir Matt Busby – warm, reflective, Scottish, philosophical
Jack Charlton – The elder son, direct, earthy, with unresolved bitterness. In his ghostly Leeds United kit, rough-hewn and boisterous, with a laugh like thunder and eyes that betray old wounds.
Bobby Charlton – The younger son, reserved, haunted by duty and distance. Slender, elegant in Manchester United red, his movements precise, his smile tentative
George Best – charming, mischievous, poetic
Ashington Chorus – Voices of the “Crowd,” audio only. Echoing chants, headlines, and whispers of public opinion. A bridge between myth and memory.
