Two teenagers witness a killer dumping a dead woman’s body into a river. After a confrontation, the killer is presumed dead. A city and its many residents are forever changed. Twenty years later, true-crime author Jason Dupree discovers a woman murdered in the same fashion as the victims portrayed in his former bestseller. When he learns the copycat wants him to publicize a new killing spree in a sequel book, he starts to believe the subject of his bestseller (a man whose existence has been unknown for years) is alive and murdering again for the twentieth anniversary. With more than innocent lives at risk, Dupree knows what he must do.
