A BRAND NEW WORLD is a science fiction novel written by American author, RAY CUMMINGS, and first serialized in Argosy All-Story Weekly beginning on September 22, 1928. In the novel, Earth faces catastrophe and potential alien invasion when a new planet, Xenephrene, enters our solar system and settles into orbit between Earth and Venus. Its gravitational pull causes the Earth’s axis to shift, causing extreme climate changes and chaos. Civilization has to evacuate the northern and southern cities and resettle in the tropics. Soon a ship from Xenephrene arrives, complete with the mandatory beautiful humanoid girl, Zetta, who warns that one of the political factions on her planet intend to conquer the Earth. Only one Earthman, Peter Vanderstufyt, can hope to thwart the invasion. The novel explores themes of unchecked power, control of information to the public, and the clash between science and society.
