The Mind's Attic

The Mind’s Attic is a metaphor for how writers tend to live inside their heads, collecting information in their everyday travels for later artistic use. In addition, everyone amasses memories, sights, sounds, smells, and relationships in their psyches, whether consciously or not. The “attic” is the cerebral storeroom in which we continually absorb, process, and retain information and experiences throughout our lives.
Thusly, the themes that appear in the poems in this book are inspired by such prevalent topics as love, religion, history, loss, family, race, gender, music, conversations, relationships, and emotions. The purpose of this collection of poems is to make the everyday occurrences of life “poetic” - lyrical, poignant, rhythmical, sensitive, thought provoking, and beautiful.
