The Drones

What would happen if humans crossed with honeybees? The drones of males of the honeybees of planet Earth are expected to mate with the queen, which is their only duty. In this novel the social structure of the honeybees crosses with the size and intelligence of humans. These beings that call themselves "Zees," mate at ten thousand feet in the air on planet Earth with the drone carrying his queen to the correct place for the mating to be viable. Then the male's wings shear off and he falls to his death, as the queen's wings are only strong enough to save her from falling. A queen can have a male cloned if he is particularly attractive, but a clone is not an exact copy. No males Zees on Planet Earth ever survive to mate again or live to see their offspring until this very special queen is born....
