There is a courage overriding system built into our heads. This system’s purpose is to prevent us from taking action that could possibly threaten our survival. This system releases chemicals that create fear sensations. These fear-toned emotions in turn usually stop us dead in our tracks. The sensitivity of this structure is as a rule set very early in life. Over-protective parents tend to set their children’s fear management system at a very sensitive low level. A child with a hair-trigger on his fear management system often runs like the wind or hides in the attic when faced with fairly minor challenges. A child with a low setting feels threatened a lot quicker than for example a child with a more robust nature.
