Ace Magazines published a number of hysterically funny teen humor comics. Two titles; ANDY and then ERNIE are good examples. ANDY was a two issue series published by Ace Comics in June 1948. It started with issue #20 taking over the numbering from SCREAM COMICS and ended with issue #21. The two issues were packed with lots of fun artwork by Sam Singer and Ruth Atkinson. Ace changed the title to ERNIE with issue #22, in September of 1948, which ran for five more issues. ERNIE focused on the comedic exploits of a young man named (wait for it) Ernie, his girlfriend Teddie and his sister Billie. There are also stories starring the Southern Sweetheart Lilly Belle as well as tales of America’s favorite soda-jerk, Orville.
