LUCKY COMICS was an incredibly entertaining anthology series published by Consolidated Magazines between 1944 and 1946. The five-issue series was chock full of exciting features. There was Lucky Starr who covered the crime beat for a great metropolitan newspaper. The Ring of Darius featured action filled historical dramas. Bobbie started as an action series starring the all- American girl next door but morphed into a humor strip along with LUCKY COMICS’ other funny characters Nomie and Hoiman. There were even western tales with Gun Lore. LUCKY COMICS hosted some impressive talent as well. Artists including Chic Stone, Leonard Starr, Walter Johnson and Jack Warren crafted some of the artwork for this series. If you want to get lucky, you definitely want to pick up a copy of THE COMPLETE LUCKY COMICS. This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are over eighty years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when judging the overall contents. The stories here were created in a less enlightened time and there are some images that may offend modern readers.
