MILITARY COMICS was a treasure trove of Golden Age greatness. The lead feature for the entire run of the series was Blackhawk, created by Will Eisner and Chuck Cuidera. The series also included the Death Patrol, prisoners allowed to fight for the Allies, but every mission claims a life. There are aerial antics with Loops & Banks. Desert scout Archie Atkins and his chaos goat, Billy battle the Axis powers in North Africa. Plus there are the exploits of Miss America, the Yankee Eagle and the Blue Tracer. MILITARY COMICS also hosted some of the best creators of the Golden Age, including Chuck Cuidera, Bob Powell, Fred Guardineer, Klaus Nordling, Al Jaffee, Dave Berg and Tex Blaisdell. The combination of great characters and amazing creators made MILITARY COMICS one of the highlights of the Golden Age of comics. This book was compiled with the best images currently available. That stated, these comics are over eighty years old. The best efforts have been made to make the pages as enjoyable as possible but not every panel is perfect and some allowances for the age of the books need to be considered when judging the overall contents. The stories here were created in a less enlightened time and there are some images that may offend modern readers.
