The Aramaic Grammar by the Rev. Thomas Arayathinal is one of the most comprehensive grammars of the Syriac language in English or in any other language. As a reference grammar alone it would be very useful, but it is not only a reference book, but a well planned teaching grammar that can be used for self-study as well as in a classroom environment. Volume II (of this 2 volume work) contains 21 lessons and each lesson contains a clear and easy to understand treatment of a grammatical topic, a vocabulary list and translation exercises from Syriac into English and English into Syriac in order to practice and reinforce the topic in question. The book employs the Eastern script but contains numerous examples of the Western script where necessary to show differences. An appendix on poetry is also included in this volume.
