a novel about the Mexican-American War

This novel with images is like a continuation of the acts of the apostles in the Bible, except this story has as its disciples the people in the USA and the people in Mexico. The Americans, led by Democrats, were animated by the spirit of Manifest Destiny. The Mexicans, led by the pope, were animated by the apparitions of Mary. Those Mexicans could not stand the idea of losing their territory called Texas, and the Americans wanted to be the world's next superpower. Americans had as their inspiration the Protestant Reformation; Mexicans had as their inspiration the catechism of the Vatican. So those visions clashed from Palo Alto to Resaca de la Palma to Chapultepec. Americans were led by politicians like James K Polk; Mexicans were led by generals like Mariano Arista. And at the end of that war, Mexicans were left bandaging their wounds, and Americans were getting ready for the next big payday: the gold rush in California. So brace yourself, because this tale of necessary American expansionism not only showcases God's fools for Christ (a compliment), but it also displays modern versions of St Paul's enemies - the spiritual leaders, the pagans, the government authorities, the mobs, and the false teachers of the wild West.
