Letters from Mesopotamia 1915

Robert Palmer was a young man from a rather privileged background thrown into the First World War. His letters provides tremendous insight into the mind of a young man not realising he only had days and weeks to live. It is nearing the centenary of the beginning of what was known as the Great War. For many people it represents a long forgotten conflict with no relevance to the 21st Century, however the modern world was made on the fields of Flanders and beyond between 1914 - 1918. Most families have a family ancestor who were injured or died in the conflict, this brings the confict closer to home and exposes a personal connection. The Kean Guides World War 1 series tells of the personal cost of this conflict , by republishing dairies, recollections and observations our aim is to educate and encourage study of this War to keep alive the memories of those who went through the hell and survived ,and for the many who sacrificed their lives.
