In a distant land, a strange young animal discovers the unexpected ability to expand like a balloon and float in the air, just as though she were filled with helium. Unfortunately, on her very first flight she meets with disaster when an exceptionally nasty gust of wind sweeps her away. Too frightened to come down again, she drifts across continents and seas, far from her home, far from her parents, and far from all she has ever known, eventually making land in a little forested valley somewhere in an unknown country.
