A dancer, a poet, an artist, a writer, a forager, a consultant, an architect, a landscaper, a truck driver, an educator, an interior designer, a librarian, a marketing professional....there is so much more to our community than what bodies hold us. There’s so much more under our skin. This first issue, Shadows, asks the question; “how does your experience with gender relate to the shadows?” Is it mysterious, or overlooked, or something else entirely? Some may feel that their gender is still lurking, waiting to be found or waiting to be shown to the world, while some may feel that the roles they were assigned are left behind in the shadows. Others may feel that there is a transient nature to their gender identity, one that doesn’t ever fully opacify. It might be more abstract for some who feel that they are being forced into the shadows due to anti-trans and anti-intersex legislation. Regardless of the narrative, this issue addresses the idea of shadows through art, writing, resources, and more. Enjoy, Alliance for Gender Diversity
