It is the year 2030. After forty-eight years of searching, the International Search for Intelligence in Space (ISIS) receives a signal through the Arecibo Radio Telescope in Puerto Rico, America’s 51st state. Human beings learn they are not alone in the universe. The message decodes itself after three days revealing plans for a cybernetic implant called Gnosis that promises to provide human beings access to the largely unused portions of their brains. While world leaders prepare to experience the next step in human evolution, persons in places as far-flung as the Isle of Patmos and Washington, D.C. uncover evidence of what could be a diabolocal conspiracy and are drawn together to expose those who would enslave mankind. That is as long as they can deal with the reality of their own inner universes.
