Mundie McRea was a well known and respected dowser. His phenomenal abilities and pin-point accuracy was utilized by prospectors, mining companies and geologists alike. He located copper deposits at the Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton when company geologists were unsuccessful in their surveys and drilling efforts. McRea's most famous find was in 1971 when he located the Lost Silver Bar's in Slocan.
Just prior to his death in 1987, Mundie McRea dowsed the area around Pitt Lake, the dowsing area is from 49º23'00" to 49º30'00"N - 122º30'00" to 122º45'00"W. Over a dozen Silver and Gold locations are marked on this map. Two of the gold locations are marked "large" - One of the silver locations is marked 'huge' and two others are marked 'large'. According to McRea's partner at the time, neither he nor McRea ever explored or prospected the sites identified on this particular map.
