A conflict between a Turkish history professor and his American born Armenian photographer lover over the ownership of of an old buried artistic treasure unveils the poignant tale of Paul Naroian, an Armenian on the run. The Turks are at it again and he is told to leave Constntinople and his position at the German Embassy. In America, unable to speak English, he struggles to support his children and frivolous wife until rumors of her infidelity forces a move to California's Central Valley where he is cheated of his savings. Now penniless and depressed, faced with the death of a daughter and his wife's continued faithlessness, Paul is driven to murder and suicide.
