PRELIMINARY SEISMIC RISK ASSESSMENT BASED ON STATISTICAL DATA

Current approaches in seismic vulnerability evaluation methods follow three main stages: walk-down, preliminary and final evaluations. All these stages require time and financial sources. In order to optimize time and other sources for detailed procedures, this study has been employed a further stage using the statistical building data collected by State Institute of Statistics of Turkey. This raw data, which are not collected to prepare an earthquake damage scenario, are processed and then an earthquake scenario is practiced for Denizli City in the southeastern Turkey. Resultant risk maps, which are needed to prepare emergency plans and take safety measures, have been proposed for the city.
