She is smart, well read and liked by most. She was sent to detention because of an article she wrote that had the students pretty divided. That was not the reason why she was sent here. It was when she defended it in front of a rowdy group of boys who were not really interested in the article but in provoking her. Everyday they taunted her. Everyday she lashed back until it came to a point that she was fed up and had a major meltdown in the corridors – just as the dean and members of the board were passing by. The hard part of it all was that no one else was Acting up in this school is the worst thing any student can do. Picking fights, name calling, insubordination – these were just a few of the long list of things that are not allowed. Janine thought she had the upper hand in the argument, after all, she was the school’s newsletter editor. She had the facts, the wittiest remarks and the most biting insults. She never expected Ron’s simple, but effective argument – her being caught on video drinking
