“Secret Collaborators,” represents the culmination of more than three years of work by the photographer Sean Hemmerle. It is the catalogue from the exhition at the Front Room gallery in brooklyn. With photographs from CENTCOM (Tampa), Baghdad, Kabul, and the American media, Hemmerle explores the relation between the war on the ground and the way it is being sold to the public.
Hemmerle’s photos appear regularly in national and international publications. His photos have twice been selected for Time's Photos of the Year. His work from Iraq was recently shown at The Open Society Institute as part of Moving Walls 9. Hemmerle was born in Tempe, AZ, in 1966. He earned his B.A. at the University of Miami and his M.F.A. at the School of Visual Arts. He served in the United States Army from 1984 to 1988, receiving an honorable discharge with the rank of sergeant.
