Cyropaedia was written in 370 BC by Xenophon, an Athenian-born soldier, historian and student of the great philosopher, Socrates. It serves as a historical and partly fictional biography of Cyrus the Great. It documents the education of Cyrus, who was the King who toppled the Babylonian empire. Cyrus was mentioned in biblical texts. This text influenced other great works such as Machiavelli's The Prince.
