Marriage customs and traditions differ according to religion, but most are arrangements for life. One exception to this norm is marriage within the Wiccan tradition. Unlike the Christian form, where the man and woman are joined together in holy matrimony till “death do us part” (even if they later grow apart and eventually come to loathe one another), the Wiccan “hand fasting” ceremony joins man and woman “for so long as love shall last”. In other words, when there is no longer love between them, they are free to go their separate ways. In a union such as this, the couple stays together because the love is lasting, not because they feel obliged to remain together for legal, social or economical reasons. Where the latter is the case, the myth that the marriage is based on love is often allowed to endure because the couple is either unable or unwilling to face up to reality. Speaking of myths, our heads are full of myths about what a good relationship should look like. Many of these probably stem from Hollywood movies and are linked to expectations (mentioned before) we have about a partner. Let's look at some of the myths that cause so much frustration among couples striving for the perfect relationship: MYTH: Relationships are easy Relationships are not easy!
