Set in rural Iraq in 2008, a nameless narrator dictates several of many memories concerning his surreal and disorienting world in regards to his longing for home, the despair of loss, the brief moments of action and their effects. This is a work of fiction. Much like the months it is loosely based on, this novel is not about some grand lesson of life. It is instead is a faithful recitation of circumstances, none of which are beyond the realm of what is possible or even likely in this modern conflict which had been part of America for over seven years. Great care has been taken to convey the essence of these experiences, which were oftentimes disorienting, surreal, uneven, and repetitive.
