Tugging at the heart strings

For some, poetry is considered to be an acquired taste - perhaps sometimes being labelled as a little extravagant, or even self-indulgent. Of course, this is not so for Bible students, who regularly thrill at the divinely-inspired Psalms and other poetic books. Indeed, the poetic form, perhaps more than any other, lends itself to the expression of one's inner-most thoughts and emotions. This makes it the most suitable style for our (and, for example, David's) confessions and reflections before God. This short volume, comprising two collections, or just forty poems in total, is shared in the hope that it may help other Christians who (like the writer) have grappled with life's experiences. Thanks be to God that our circumstances are providentially overruled (if we commit our ways faithfully to Him), leading to wonderful hope for the future. "My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer." (Psalm 45 verse 1)
