The study of flowing soap films as an example of two dimensional fluid flow is a popular area of interest. This project involves the developmnt of imaging and image processing techniques in order to visualise the thickness variations in flowing soap films as a means of analysing the motion of the fluid. The soap films are produced using a mixture of commercially available detergent and water, and observed using a CCD camera while illuminated by a sodium lamp.
