"A Study in Scarlet" by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
After returning to London after the war, the wounded Dr John Watson urgently needed a place to stay. An acquaintance introduces him to the strange 'consultant detective' Sherlock Holmes, and Watson soon finds himself involved in an enticing world of crime-solving adventures. "Scarlet Study" (1887), partly by Watson and partly by the killer, was Arthur Conan Doyle's first entry into the world of Sherlock Holmes, which would make him famous all over the world. This first Sherlock Holmes novel became a popular BBC program starring Steven Moffat, the host of Doctor Who starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. The basis for the experimental section of "Detective Sherlock" (2010-2017).
