‘Whimsical Magazine, Tales Of Portraits... Whimsical Magazine is a new independent fortnightly publication aiming to highlight and sublimize portrait photography in all its forms, envisioned as a work of art. Additionally to awesome and unique editorial or commercial portraits, every issue will consist of interviews and articles spotlighting talents, from every part of the world, who will inspire every photography and image enthusiast and stimulate you to excel in your art,in order to make you live your passion more completely. Passion, creativity, emotion and audacity are our 4 watchwords. Julia Dobosz is the photographer behind the lens. This 27 years old mom of two, Emily and Daniel has been living and creating in Edmonton, Canada for almost 2 years now. Julia dedicates her work to celebrating mothers, capturing their journey from the moment they discover they’re expecting all the way through motherhood. Her journey into photography began with her children. ‘I wanted to capture every magical moment—the tiny hands, the chubby little feet. To improve the quality of my photos, I switched from my phone to my sister-in-law’s Nikon D5100, 18-55mm. I started with my kids, then moved on to photographing my friends’ children, learning manual settings and Adobe programs along the way. When I became pregnant with my son, I decided to take photography seriously. I completed a newborn photography course, and after moving to Canada, I bought a used Nikon D7100. As I improved through YouTube lessons, I began taking paid sessions about six months after my son was born. With my husband’s support, I eventually upgraded to a Sony A7 IV.’ Julia perfectly knew that starting a business in a new country while caring for a small child would be a huge challenge. But she also knew it was absolutely worth it! So here she is Today, capturing the emotional connections between parents and their children, to the great delight of her customers and friends! «We have a secret in our culture, and it’s not that birth is painful. It’s that women are strong.» Laura Stavoe Harm, American educator and writer Have a good read!’
