‘Whimsical Magazine, Tales Of Portraits... Whimsical Magazine is a new independent fortnightly publication aiming to highlight and sublimize portrait photography in all its forms, envisioned as a work of art. Additionally to awesome and unique editorial or commercial portraits, every issue will consist of interviews and articles spotlighting talents, from every part of the world, who will inspire every photography and image enthusiast and stimulate you to excel in your art, in order to make you live your passion more completely. Passion, creativity, emotion and audacity are our 4 watchwords. Pim Nauta is the photographer behind The Right Click. He was born in Eldoret, Kenya, and lived in Kenya for 7 years and 2 years in Malaysia before coming to The Netherlands. His photography adventure began in 1994 when he first picked up a Pentax Super-A camera at the age of 27. Over the years, Pim transitioned to Nikon photo equipment and delved into various photography genres, to eventually find his path through portrait photography in 2013. ‘My experience in sports photography paved the way for me to explore portraiture and retouching, leading me to develop my signature style inspired by natural light photography. With the help of tutorials and practice, I honed my skills and embraced using Profoto flashes to enhance my shoots. The tutorial “The Guide To Natural Light Portraiture” by Dani Diamond inspired me to go on with portraiture and also in the style of Dani Diamond.’ Then, Pim broadened his horizons by shooting with flash instead of only shooting in natural light, particularly thanks to the Profoto system, which allowed him to shoot with a less complicated flash. Now, he can focus on capturing stunning portraits of models in my hometown of Deventer, The Netherlands, using a combination of ambient light and flashlight. ‘While bird photography used to be a hobby of mine, my current focus lies in creating captivating portraits that showcase the beauty and personality of my models.
