Passion, creativity, emotion and audacity are our 4 watchwords. Introducing Taoana Tsiki... Taoana Tsiki is the photographer behind the lens. He fell in love very early on age when his parents bought him a camera at his twenties, to allow him to realize his project to shoot films. ‘I was using an Ipad at the time and that really wasn’t doing the trick. But I remember we went to this township, Zithobeni, with my old man and I can’t remember if I just so happened to have my camera on me or I had intentionally taken it but I just started walking around and taking pictures of people and fences.’ Though he first felt terrified and was trying to be discreet, his wish to capture the life around him overpassed his fears and so he did it. ‘Then I went back not long after and did it again. I don’t know what it was about it but obviously something clicked, but I never thought anything of it really I just wanted to take pictures. Never really filmed much in all honesty.’ 12 years after, Taoana keeps learning and improving himself and being stimulated by the art of Photography, always evolving and now more than ever with the avent of artificial intelligence, very controversial but offering a lot of new opportunities for creative exploration. ‘Photography is not a science. Even if it was, scientists often get things wrong before they get them right. Stumbling into something new or transformative is also okay.’ «The camera makes you forget you’re there. It’s not like you are hiding but you forget, you are just looking so much.» Annie Leibovitz Have a good read!’
