Thirty-nine year old Rose has spent her entire life searching for the thing she desires most - joy. But growing up in an abusive, alcoholic household - a household where there was no expressed love or support - left a mark on her. That mark was a feeling of self-doubt and worthlessness. Throughout her life, Rose struggled to overcome the effects of her childhood. She donned a 'happy mask' and sought out happiness anywhere she could find it. She assumed that if she strung enough happy moments together, then she would be happy. But at the age of 39, when her life was filled with things that should have made her happy, the feelings of worthlessness and self-doubt were still her constant companions. After a tragic car accident, Rose's unconscious state allows her to relive her painful past.
