In 1883, Violet’s mother ran away from a high-class world after discovering she was pregnant with a poor boy’s baby. 15 years later, Violet and her sister Aster are thrust from their life of poverty into English nobility, forced to adjust to the strict world their mother fled. After facing a childhood of neglect by her new family, Violet must choose whether to live a loveless life as a noblewoman or to follow in the dangerous footsteps of her mother with the chance of living the life she desires. Violet ensues on a dramatic path to freedom. Violets and Roses is a short character study that gives an overdramatic look into the life of a young girl growing up during the turn of the century in England. It shows that though times have changed, our emotional struggles are at heart, universal. Violet dramatically shares as she moves through the lifelong family drama that shapes who she and her older sister Aster grow up to be.
