In Deep Space 1973

Below him was the black water groaning in the cool abyss, where light never ever gotten to. Only light from a bioluminescent microorganism shot out. Lying inside the ship Deep Trip IV can only fit one person, his head hinged on the crystal-clear bow. Dr. Stephen D. Ahearn has the sensation that he is jumping excitedly, aimlessly in the limitless world. By the light of the lights on either side of the ship, he can see organic particles flowing in a gentle, continuous stream falling in the illuminated water distant. They are the remains of protozoa that drift through thousands of kilometers of sea water to reach the final graveyard on the ocean floor.
