Those Around Him

A powerful drama in five scenes depicts the struggles of those close to Christ at the time of the crucifixion. Mary, Peter, Pilate, Caiaphas, Simon of Cyrene, and others, come to grips with what has happened, and what part they’ve played, in an event that changes their lives forever. The script includes a bonus scene, “Jesus Who” where a contemporary couple examines the nature of Jesus before they head to Easter services. Originally commissioned as a Lenten series, where one skit was performed each of five Wednesdays leading up to Easter Week, this series can also be performed as a special service, with scenes broken up by music, video or sermon. A compelling and moving outreach, as we see ordinary people, just like us, struggle with the questions: “Who is Jesus, and why did he have to die?”
